The Church of Abundant Life building in Harvey

Our story

A church for Greater New Orleans

For more than forty years this house has lifted up the name of Jesus on the West Bank — equipping saints and sending them into the city and the world.

Who we are

Abundant life, here and now

Church of Abundant Life is a non-denominational church in Harvey, Louisiana. We gather to worship Jesus, to sit under the Word, and to pray until this city sees the Kingdom of God.

The vision the Lord gave this house is simple and costly: equip the saints — warriors for Jesus — for the work of the ministry, then release them locally and abroad. We have a tremendous task in Greater New Orleans, and we take it with joy.

Jesus is Alive. We still believe it. We still preach it. And we still expect Him to move.

Shepherds

Pastors of this house

Pastor Bill Fitzgerald and Dianna Fitzgerald

Pastor

Pastor Bill Fitzgerald

Together with Dianna Fitzgerald

Pastor Bill and Dianna have been part of Abundant Life since 1991. He currently teaches Sunday after Sunday from the Word of God — calling the church to faith, prayer, and a life that lifts up the name of Jesus. He and Dianna have four children. We consider ourselves to be very blessed to serve and work with the families of this church. Part of the vision that our Lord has given us, is to equip the saints (warriors for Jesus) for the ministry. Then we release them into the ministry, locally and abroad. My wife and I travel during the year, for the purpose of ministry in foreign lands and domestic churches. The Lord has given us a vision to reach out to the world and to our local community. We have a tremendous task ahead of us, especially here in Greater New Orleans. We want to invite you to join us at Church of Abundant Life, whenever you or your family are in the area. Please plan a visit to our church to see what gifts the Word of God has for you.

Pastor Sean Fox and Lori Fox

Associate Pastor

Pastor Sean Fox

Together with Lori Fox

Sean and Lori have been married for 21 years and have four children. They are both from the West Bank of New Orleans and have served Church of Abundant Life for more than 15 years in various leadership roles. Lori has been part of her father’s church — the late Pastor Jonas Robertson — her entire life. Pastor Sean has been part of the church for more than 23 years, serving the youth and now teaching children and adults, while also coaching and teaching in the local community. Sis Lori helps in the nursery each week and finds raising her family her greatest joy. Their passion is to see their own children devote themselves to the Lord completely, and to see Pastor Jonas Robertson’s vision come to pass. Bro Sean is an associate pastor, proudly serving under Pastor Bill Fitzgerald and assisting Pastor Marvin Brown.

Pastor Jonas Robertson

Together with Ruthie Robertson

Jonas Robertson founded Abundant Life and shepherded this house for more than forty years. Born in New Orleans, saved at nineteen, and a graduate of International Bible College in San Antonio, he gave his life to Jesus and to Greater New Orleans. His wife Ruthie stood with him in that work. We honor his memory and continue the vision the Lord placed in this church.

What we believe

The Word we stand on

These are the things this house holds, drawn from the Scriptures. They have shaped our worship, our preaching, and our life together on the West Bank.

You do not have to agree with every line to sit with us on Sunday. Come as you are. We will meet you with love.

We do name these things plainly, because they are the ground we stand on — how we disciple, how we lead, and what we teach.

God

We believe in one true, holy God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — three Persons, one God, equal in glory and in love.

The Bible

The Bible is the sole foundation of what we believe — sixty-six books, Old and New Testament, given by God.

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the eternal Son, fully God and fully man, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin.

The Holy Spirit

Everyone who belongs to Jesus is called into a life of holiness and obedience, and that life is the work of the Holy Spirit.

Salvation

From the beginning God made us for fellowship with Himself — and from the beginning we chose our own way.

Our Eternal Hope

Death is not the end of anyone’s story; it seals the eternal destiny of each soul.

The Church

There is one Church — every person who names Jesus as Savior and Lord.

Marriage and Family

God created each person, male or female, in His image, and He established marriage as a covenant between one man and one woman.

Baptism

Baptism is a public picture of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus — an outward sign of a life already given to Him.

Stewardship

God made all things and owns all things; whatever we hold — time, gifts, and money — we hold with open hands.

The Sanctity of Life

Every human life is sacred, because God made us in His image.

Come see what the Lord is doing.

Sunday worship is at 10:00am in the main sanctuary. We would be honored to have you with us.
